Sonpur Mela , the largest cattle fair, known for its elephants, horses, theater, woolen clothes, etc across the length and breadth of India is also known for hosting tens of different exhibitions - Agriculture , Army,Navy, IAF, Tourism, Railways etc. It has been recognized by various institutions of the country.

This mela receives a footfall of approximate a few crores. With this huge number of visitors in a month, this mela posses a tremendous opportunity of advertisement and information sharing. There are numerous ways to pass information from an individual to next and the recent digital information has made every information available at fingertips. But it was not always this easy. Exhibitions have always been a wonderful platform for information sharing. The Sonpur Mela is also identified for the exhibition by Indian Railways - "RAIL GRAM" .

Rail Gram is set up in front of Jan Sampark Vibhag. It has been organised for more than a century now. The Rail Gram has grown bigger and gained huge popularity over the years among inquisitive brains of students of all age groups. Organized by the Sonpur Rail Mandal for Indian Railways, it presents a delightful experience to learn the functioning of Indian Railways - technical and managerial aspects. Prototypes of different coaches, wagons, engines, wheels, tracks, signals, bridges , etc have been put for the visitors for learning. There one can find experts explaining the technical aspects and answering the queries.

The exhibitions also runs a mini rail in the Sonpur Mela . The Rail Gram simply takes you around the railway establishments of the East Central Railway. One can capture the breath-taking view of the Zonal Headquaters , Hajipur. The model presents the different building housed at the headquarter. The exhibitions also gives you an aerial view of the tracks laid around in Sonpur Division. Even there are moving locomotives with coaches on these tracks to present the real view. The signals and track merge and diversions are all present in the real time.
The Rail washing depo of Barauni Jn is also put at display. Another important station Jamalpur, which once used to produce rail engines is also displayed at the exhibition. Different locomotives manufactured at Jamalpur are on display.
The Integral Coach Factory (ICF), is also under high-light as the blue ICF coach , ICF trolley , LBH coach ,etc from ICF Chennai are displayed to the visitors.
The exhibitions also showcases the glorious past of Sonpur Rail Mandal since its inception in 1865, then known as B&NWR. One can find heritage bricks, metre gauge tracks, Jagjivan Bridge,etc. The bridge has been connecting the lives of people across the Gandak River. Recently inaugurated Jay Prakash Narayan Bridge connects the densely populated northern and southern plains of Bihar.
